In the first part of this four-part series we looked at the basic elements you need to know about when it comes to DJ PA systems. In the second part , we carried on laying the groundwork by answering some common newbie questions. It is vital that the amplifier can supply sufficient power for your speakers say W , but your speakers also need to be able to handle this amount of power.

Share on Facebook Some projectors have speakers so that you can include audio in your multimedia business presentations. However, because of the limited space inside the projector, the speakers are often placed close to the cooling fan, and therefore don’t sound very good and aren’t capable of producing audio that is loud enough for everyone to hear in a large conference room. To get better sound quality or more volume, you can connect your projector’s audio output to a soundbar that combines speakers and amplification in one self-contained unit.
Step 1 Select an appropriate audio cable to connect your projector to your soundbar. The cable needs to have a 3. The end that connects to your soundbar needs either another 3. Step 2 Press the “Power” button on your soundbar to turn it off. Step 3 Connect your projector to your computer as you normally would. If you are not using an HDMI connection, remember to use a 3.
Step 4 Insert the 3. Step 5 Insert the other end of the audio cable into the input on your soundbar.

It is difficult to find a quality subwoofer at a price most people can afford. JBL has met this challenge head on with its Venue Series subwoofer. Attractive styling and consistent performance make this subwoofer a good buy for consumers not willing to spend a lot on one piece of audio equipment. I used my standard Matrix DVD test when evaluating this subwoofer. The Matrix besides being one of my favorite movies is an excellent testbed for speakers because of the wide range of sounds in every scene.
Results were about what I expected from a mid priced subwoofer. The bass was decent but not outstanding. The JBL, along with many other mid priced subwoofers, suffers one fatal design flaw preventing it from being much better- it has a direct firing driver. Essentially, a direct firing driver aims the sound outwards from the side of the enclosure. More expensive models aim the sound downwards and because subwoofers are not directional in the same manner speakers are, the sound is allowed to reverberate more and gain depth.
The sound produced is still quite good, though it lacks the rich full bodied nature you would expect from a more expensive subwoofer. As to the look of the sub, well, I liked the black and silver because it has a modern feel to it, but the boxy look turned me off somewhat.

Right now I have these beasts hooked up to the front headphone jack with a couple of splitters. This works but I am thinking about adding some additional speakers to get the surround sound going which leads me to a couple questions: I would prefer to get to banana plugs to the receiver, but I am not sure if the RCA connectors are just as good. Since these speakers are self powered, any concerns there hooking it up to a receiver that expects to be powering the speakers?
I am open to getting a mixer if that would be better and find a way to hook up the mixer to the receiver, but I am assuming that will lose any Atmos or Dolby sound output. I am not exaggerating with the use of beasts above and even with speaker volume settings, do you think regular home theater speakers will have a chance to be heard with these?
Mar 21, · Your JBL speaker should show up in the window, at which point you can select it by clicking on it, and then click “Pair”. Once it’s done, you will see “connected” under the device in the list.
I have this sub: I wired the sub in series first, and it sounded too Now it sounds stronger, but still not quite strong enough for, supposedly, watts rms. I hooked up my watts home subwoofer in my car before, and it sound just as strong if not stronger What’s with the two sets of terminals on the monoblock? Since I didn’t wire it in series, or in parallel, what do you call the way that I wired it? What would happen if I ran this sub on 2 ohms from the amp when the sub is supposed to be 1 or 4?

Friday, July 31, Review: JBL Xtreme – how much bass can you handle? The JBL Xtreme buy from amazon not to confuse with the older and meanwhile discontinued JBL OnBeat Xtreme suddenly appeared in an inconspicuous way without any preceding official announcement. There was just a leak on Youtube and some weeks later it was already available on the european JBL site for pre-order, which I did immediately as I had this particular feeling that JBL might really have an interesting product here.
So far it doesn’t seem to be available in the US yet, and to tell the truth I have no idea when it is going to be released there and why it hasn’t been already released. Looking back in the history it took JBL a long way to finally come up with some impressive portable speakers after a period with rather underwhelming devices. The JBL Charge 2 despite having some initial issues is a pretty good sounding portable speaker in some ways even better than all competing models.
The cylindric design with 2 opposing passive radiators at the sides was afterwards used for another Harman speaker:

If the subwoofer features spring clips in order to use speaker wire, then you can use the speaker output of the receiver to hook it all up. This process is the same as connecting a basic stereo sure to mind the channels.
Huge sub and long soundbar Not the best for music No mid or treble controls One area where soundbars traditionally struggle with is bass. Having a compact speaker bar makes it difficult to have as much bass as if you were using a stand-alone subwoofer. Instead, the SB comes with a huge 8-inch mm sub that pumps out enough bass to shake your entire house.
After spending a week with the JBL SB soundbar, we were left impressed with its sound quality, ease of use and flexibility. Design The JBL SB comes in two parts, a long soundbar that measures 44 x 3 x 4 inches x 76 x 97mm; L x W x H and a huge subwoofer that measures 13 x 13 x 14 inches x x This is a beast of a soundbar and sub so make sure you actually have room on your entertainment center for the soundbar and enough room next to it for the sub. JBL opted for a silver and black color scheme for the SB and it provides an understated elegance.

The black finish is understated but helps it to blend in with black TVs and components, and the metal grille is firmly bolted to the front. Its build quality could hardly be described as luxurious, but the Cinema Base is a solid slab that can support TVs weighing up to 68kg, according to JBL. The narrow top surface x mm could be a problem if your TV has a particularly wide stand.
In fact, when I placed my inch Samsung on top, its foot poked over the edges. On top is a discreet row of buttons that controls volume, input selection and sound modes.
A LED indicator will light up (or sometimes blink, depending on the model), which will tell you when the speaker is ready. Press (and hold) the Connect/Pairing button. Some speakers have a dedicated pairing button while others use the same button as the power on/off does.
